Empress 3L Jacket

I am 5'6" and ordered a large in size for my jacket. I wanted to be able to wear layers under my jacket and I have long arms, so I wanted the sleeves to fit properly. The sleeves of the jacket are slightly long. From the bottom of my rib cage up the jacket fits just fine unless I have on a bulky sweater. The bottom of the jacket is very tight, almost to the point of being hard to sit down without fear of the zipper pulling apart. I am not a snowboarder, so I wondered if it was tight to keep snow out. I get great comments on the look of the jacket, which I am happy with. The fit, as it is, will not allow me to use the pockets properly.
