Windell’s Public Day.

Monday, July 12th, 2010

We headed to Windells Camp for the Public appreciation Day and Bonfire pipe 2 pipe skate comp. Remember the scene in Caddy Shack when they let the caddies swim in the private pool, yea it was kind of like that. The masses showed up to take advantage of the open campus and get some free skate.

Below (bottom left clockwise) is Aj Dakoulas (4bi9) Tyler Barnes, Sean Harkins (Windells Camp) and my good friend Dan Starr.

Before the crowds showed up for the comp there was open skate in the new cement facility on campus. Side note, it’s amazing!

Erica Durtschi and Brady Perron.

The story about the two dudes below is we all grew up together on the east and are now living our lives out west respectively. Every once in a blue moon we get to meet up for a minute, why not at Windells with bmx bikes.

A view from the top of the new dry slope bag jump, in the back is the new skate facility, Windells is on a take over program.

Dan Starr taking full advantage of public day, hasn’t back-flipped a BMX bike ever so he decided to try it on the big side.

I feel bad when ever I meet up with Steve Steep I always ask him to get a photo of some sort, this one skate. Thanks Steve.

This shred dawg was warming up for the pipe 2 pipe which was crazy though i did not manage to get a photo of it, too much fun? or blowing it?

Mt. Hood for Sammy C Invitational

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

I love Summer, and I love skiing in the Summer.  I took some time off of coaching this year so I could enjoy summer and attend the camp up in Alaska.  My Alaskan adventure took me skiing, back to my home town, Halibut fishing, Camping in a wall tent and a family wedding of my Girlfriends (in the rain, but thats to be expected in Alaska!)

So when I finally made my way to Mt. Hood it was the end of June, things are just starting to heat up with session 3 going on while Sammy’s event is in action.  Sammy helped build one of the funnest and floatiest jumps that the mountain has seen.  It was a real pleasure to hit on the Practice day, until i overshot by a bit and was sent down on a stretcher. But I am A-O-K, here is a video from the days session.

Oh well, you make one to few speed carves going in and the tangy booter sent me an extra 50 feet lengthwise, sending me into the flats where I commpressed my back. I am ok, and things will be pretty mellow for the rest of the summer, but thats how I planned it to be anyways, so considering my situation I am just happy I got to hit the funnest jump of the year, at the funnest place on earth.

July 1st, the day slated for the comp the day after practice was haulted by ill-fated winds and fog that creeped down the glacier.  I think things should look good for the next day, I hope the event goes down, because people were really having fun hitting that jump and I expect to see some new moves go down on it.  I won’t be able to compete, and will not be skiing hood, but the good news is my sister Erica Durtschi will be coaching Session 4 in place of my absence so if she is your coach, be stoked.  Also Witt Foster, Collin Collins, Nicky Keefer, and Steve Stepp and snowboarder Corbin Clement are all out at Hood coaching, filming for Session Videos, and representing Saga all summer long.

I big thanks to Sammy Carlson for Inviting me to his event, and a Huge thanks to windells for all the support during my skiing career, this place really helped me build my skills to be where I am today.

From Us to You.

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

For many reasons 2010 has been a significant year for our brand and all of us at Saga Outerwear.  Since the inception of Saga it has been very important to us to make the Saga name and story around all the people that represent it.  For this reason we have been careful to let our team and customers, be the ones to symbolize our brand.  This being said, it is due time for us behind the scenes to show our open appreciation for all of the support and commitment we have received from both our team and customers alike.

Looking back to our beginning in Montana in 2005 it brings memories that seem like ages ago.  It was at this time that we began seeing others supporting and backing our underground project we called Saga.  It was also at this time that we took notice to how similar and close as a ski/snow community we were to our customers.  Before our project began we held one simple goal and commitment that was to build the type of products our team and customers wanted to use.  Five years later this basic goal is still the foundation of our brand.

The hardest part of building a brand can be taking the envisioned design, perfecting it and making it a reality. We recognize in previous seasons we have fallen short in some aspects of our outerwear. Moving forward into the 2011 season we have developed our entire Anomie collection with the most advanced materials while improving our signature style.

Before we drop what we consider to be our most technical line of winter apparel, we are giving an introduction to some of the new seasonal lines we have developed.  As a collective we have been having fun researching and developing new products to support the lifestyles of every season.

After five years of operating from a home office we have moved into a building and headquarters that we are proud to share.  We have built our new space to promote and encourage our creative work environment.  Besides an office and warehouse, we have tried to create an area that our team can have fun in and take pride in as well.

Although our products may never be available in the masses, we want this announcement to mark our commitment to develop our most creative ideas and designs into the most technical and affordable garments offered.

After our pizza party last Friday everyone gathered for a family pic.

See you on the other side!

Sun’s Out Gun’s Out.

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Count down to closing is 4 days (sad face) and with sun in the sky I had to get up to park city to see who was lapping and get some end of the season photos. To no surprise just about everyone was enjoying slushy day and going for broke top to bottom in the pic n’ shovel park. I slipped into the hot lap mix and captured what photos I could during the madness, so many athletes and only one lens (sad face two) but I did my best (teamwork).

Upon arrival it was Tyler Barnes and Steve Stepp, hey tones!

Good flat down set up at the top of the run, Barnes agrees.

Lip 270, please correct me if i’m wrong Tyler.

I can’t even say if hes is going right or left because I didn’t shoot sequence, it’s only a D40x. Barnes goes both ways so let your imagination do the rest.

I know for a fact Collin Collin’s was super stoked on the day, “i’m going to be the last person on this lift”.

switch 7 blunt with sky accessories.

He should just put his name on this hitching post after today. Smile!

This shot doesn’t correspond with the one below it but look at that form.

Switch 5 Japan, Collin has that easy style.

The new dipped 3.

Steve Stepp was also there but like most mummies he is very elusive and remains un-photographed.
